Civil war solders remembered at memorial



On Memorial Day, the United States Colored Troops Descendants, a division of the Bells Mill Historical Research & Restoration Society, sponsored its 8th annual Founders Day in Hampton Roads observance at Afro-Union Civil War Soldiers Memorial on Bells Mill Road. The event was held to commemorate the 146th anniversary of the formation of the Bureau of Colored Troops by President Abraham Lincoln.
